Sufjan Stevens presents Osso
Sufjan stevens presents osso Country Club will be hosting string quartet Osso on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009 at 8pm. They will be performing arrangements from Run Rabbit Run (their new album which is their interpretation of Sufjan Stevens’ album Enjoy Your Rabbit—each song named for a year of the Chinese zodiac). The screening of the BQE (Sufjan’s cinematic/symphonic 40-minute meditation on the reckless life of a traffic artery known as the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway) will follow their performance. Also on exhibit will be Jessica Dessner's original pencil drawings for the Sufjan Stevens/Osso record, Run Rabbit Run. Jessica Dessner is a poet who began drawing three years ago. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Sal Mimeo, La Petite Zine, The Invisible Stitch, H_NGM_N and Gerry Mulligan. Her chapbook, Wit's End with Bric-a-Brac was published in 2006 by Green Zone. She holds a BA in Dance from Barnard College and completed the New School's MFA program for poetry in 2008. $10 tickets at the door. Tickets will only be available for purchase at the door the night of the performance–no advance sales. Doors open at 7pm.
